====== Leasemeat ======

Literally “false flesh”. A meat substitute made from fungus. Often grown for consumption on orbital colonies. Actual meat is very expensive.

The fungus is grown in a substrate made of nutrients reclaimed from excrement and suspended in a gel matrix. The mycelium grows throughout the matrix, and the fleshy concave disk-shaped fruiting bodies erupt from the gel into the open air where they are harvested and processed in different ways to fit various tastes.
