====== Underlay (Architecture) ====== //This article is about the architectural feature of yinrih buildings, for the subspace used for FTL communication and travel named after it, see [[underlay]].// An underlay is the open area beneath a building. Most structures are built on stilts or pylons to ensure that the lowest floor is off the ground. [[Yinrih]] are arboreal animals and feel more at ease this way. In suburban and rural areas, underlays are used for storage. In dense urban environments underlays loose their original purpose of providing a sense of height since all the surrounding buildings are also raised. These areas become unbroken expanses used for vehicular transport. In this case one speaks of "the underlay" as a single connected unit. {{tag>culture}}
