The World Engine
If Partisan Territory is the China of Focus, than the World Engine is their Great Wall. It is a dwarf planet that is considered by most to mark the boundary between Focus and interstellar space. However, it didn’t start out where it is now.
The dwarf planet was originally located much further inside the Outer Belt, but the newly established Partisan government wanted a big project to show the rest of Focus that they were a force to be reckoned with. They decided to one-up the missionaries by embarking on an interstellar mission of their own, not to obey the Great Commandment, but to people the empty skies that were theirs for the taking. However, womb ships don’t scale to the size of a colony, so they decided to mount propulsion engines on a terraformed dwarf planet to create a generation ship that would travel from star to star to establish a Vulpithecine, and more importantly Partisan, presence outside of Focus.
However, while the engines did work, it was soon discovered that the planet itself could not sustain a livable environment without an existing logistics network to replenish various supplies, so the planet was parked in its present orbit at the far edge of the outer belt.
It is rightfully considered a supreme monument to mortal hubris and a marvel of Vulpithecine engineering. It’s a massive tourist attraction, likely the biggest in PT, both for its history and for the fact that it represents the edge of colonized space.
The planet isn’t named world engine, but a flowery Outlander phrase meaning something along the lines of daring embarkation. Humans just call it BoldlyGo (where no man has gone before).
