Lucy was the human-pronounceable name of the high hearthkeeper in office at the time of the Dewfall's arrival on Earth. She succeeded High Hearthkeeper Brightsun.

She was given the name Lucy at the first interspecies ecumenical conference in the City of Eternal Noon. Rather than risk offense or ridicule by picking a name herself, she asked one of the human attendees to name her. The name was likely a reference to Saint Lucy, given in honor of the Bright Way's affinity for light.

By most accounts she was a traditionalist, nevertheless, she privately considered a moratorium on interstellar mission work in line with her predecessor. Prior to her accession to the high perch, Lucy had served as a research monk on Yih, where she worked to develop what would become the mass router. She struggled privately with addressing the neurogel abuse crisis within the missionaries. She saw the mass router as a more viable alternative to womb ships for interstellar travel, and saw a moratorium as more of a an adoption of new, safer technology rather than a suppression of the Bright Way's traditions. Before she could act on the matter, the Dewfall made First Contact with humanity, igniting a Claravian religious revival, and the mass router was perfected the following year, allowing her to suppress the use of womb ships and neurogel without halting mission work.

She was the strongest advocate for humanity at Focus, and was responsible for opening Hearthside to human settlement. She was the first authority figure outside of Wayfarers' Haven that had any dealings with humans, and was responsible for promoting Ludd Laws within both Hearthside and the Allied Worlds.
