The Void, also called The Blind Void, is, according to Claravian doctrine, the realm of the afterlife where the souls of the lightless are sequestered. Souls in the Void are devoid of all sensation, including proprioception, with only their own regrets for company.

The void is not separate from the Empyrean where the souls of the blessed dwell in the Uncreated Light. The difference is in how the realm is perceived.

One is not sent to the Void, rather, they consign themselves to the void through their own actions in life. Free will is of utmost importance in the Bright Way, as it is considered one of the gifts given to the yinrih when they became sapient. Thus one must choose to follow the Bright Way of their own will, without external coercion and free from ulterior motive. If one chooses to separate himself from the Uncreated Light, it will honor that choice by not forcing itself upon him in death.

According to the majority of theologians, the void is eternal, but some think it will be dissolved after the Eschaton, with the lightless either annihilated or given the choice to enter the Empyrean.
