Hearthside

Hearthside is the innermost planet of Focus. It is tidally locked, and its capital, the City of Eternal Noon, is located at the substellar point. Hearthside is the center of religious government of the Bright Way.

Hearthside was founded as an experiment in ecclesiastical utopianism. The government was set up to reflect the ancient power structure of a yinrih shire, where a group of male patriarchs governed secular affairs while being advised by a female shaman. Hearthside has two legislative bodies, the Weremoot and Wifemoot. The Weremoot proposes laws that must be passed to the Wifemoot for ratification. The Weremoot is open to the laity while the Wifemoot is composed of clergy. Members of the Weremoot may belong to one of several political parties and are elected by the people while members of the Wifemoot are nonpartisan and are appointed by the High Hearthkeeper.
